Sunrise, Love
Cinematographer and Assistant Director
A 13 minute short film; this project was Victoria Waring's Senior Capstone Project at Philadelphia School of the Arts. I was brought on as head cinematographer and assisted in producing, shooting, and editing this project. Operating with a small crew anywhere from 2-6 people, this film implemented tightly scheduled on-location shooting.
The greatest challenge in this film was the opening and closing scenes, two of our most elaborate and dialogue heavy scenes took place at sunrise next to and/in the ocean. I had the opportunity to direct our two actors while waste deep in the ocean, all the while operating the camera to get the shots we needed before the sun moved out of position.
As this film was a romance piece, I implemented heavy use of soft focus and natural edge lighting to capture the look the director was after.
