Projects
Sunrise, Love
Cinematographer, Assistant Director
This project was Victoria Waring's Senior Capstone Project at Philadelphia School of the Arts. I was brought on as head cinematographer and assisted in producing, shooting, and editing this project. Operating with a small crew anywhere from 2-6 people, this film implemented tightly scheduled on-location shooting.
Ash
Head of Cinematography
Awarded "Best Narrative Short" at the Erie International Film Festival, this project was inspired by a derelict quarry that was the site of a controlled burning that had covered the entire forest in ash. Therein was born the idea for a post-apocalyptic world that wanted to highlight the relief and comfort found in living plants, fresh air, and good food.
1805
1st Assistant Director
A Professionally-funded historical narrative short film shot in central PA area. Shooting took place over three weeks at a variety of locations. My responsibilities during the film included compiling and distributing the call sheet, managing covid tests, keeping the different departments on schedule and moving, organizing traffic flow and staging areas, and stepping in for the director when needed.
Secret Within the Sphere
2nd Assistant Camera/Best Boy
This was the first feature length film I worked on professionally. Secret Within the Sphere was a steampunk action movie shot in the central PA area. As second assistant director under George Winchell, Head of Photography, I received a lot of excellent mentorship.
Over the course of the film I was given the additional credit of "Best Boy" after quickly picking up skills in the lighting department as well. Thanks to the creative setting of the film, I was able to learn with some really unusual and exciting lighting set ups from the very beginning.
Night of the Sicario
Production Assistant
From working on this film, I learned the skill of anticipating what would be happening next in the film schedule and working to prepare the set and equipment needed to help keep the day running on schedule. This has become an essential skill that I frequently use to complete ambitious daily schedules on time and early.
After Sophia
Production Assistant
This was a short romantic drama I volunteered on locally. This looked like filling in wherever was needed on set and getting the chance to problem solve on a small budget set.
When the Beat Stops
Assistant Lighting and Audio
This was an hour long film shot over two film days with only three crew to set up and operate the equipment. With the packed film days and variety of locations, I got a lot of hands on experience in every aspect of the professional film set.
Welcome Home
Screenwriter and 1st Assistant Director
This was a narrative short film that I worked on as part of my Junior Senior project for the Messiah University Film Program. My goal when writing this film, in collaboration with Emily Beck, was to explore the harsh realities facing homeless youth in our communities.
Unstained Glass
Director
This short documentary was my senior honors project during the final year of university. My interest was exploring the troubling dynamic found within the church of the pressure to maintain a holy and unblemished appearance to the public, while also being a community of flawed, challenged people.
Calf Rope
Assistant Lighting
Calf Rope was an award winning narrative short that I volunteered on during college. It explored themes of generational growth and nostalgia. I had a wonderful time working with a talented cast and crew and got experience with a greater variety of directing styles and cinematography work. Learning how to adapt lighting to fit those better was an invaluable lesson.
